National Day (1) - Australia Day
This Saturday coming, 26th January, is celebrated as the National Day of Australia. It is the day on which European settlement of the 'great southern land' commenced. It is a controversial day, as there was already a long-established culture existing in the land, which was, effectively, quashed with the arrival of European culture.
We invite the CDP bloggers from Australia to share with us their images and thoughts in celebration of this day. The Linky will be left open for 24 hours to enable you to post old photos OR photos from 2013.
Non-Australian bloggers who have an affection, or a connection, to the country, are invited to celebrate along with Aussies. Show an 'Australian connection' in your own neighbourhood, or from a trip you may have made 'down under'.
Join in! The more the merrier ...
The Linky will open at 12:00am Saturday 26th January (GMT+11).

I really liked the colours in those banners. This year's red one were not quite as impressive.
Thanks, Jim. I do not like the red banners for 2013 at all. Not the correct shade of red, and the graphic is so understated, as to be meaningless.
Very state govt like the waratah that replaced all the individual meaningful logos.
Happy Australia Day to you all down under.
Thanks for the impetus to review many of my thousands of Australia photos from my three trips and almost two years total of living there. I just couldn't decide on one favorite, there were so many wonderful places and people and animals. Good memories.
Excellent, Dina. I am so glad you participated, your connections being so very strong. You must be close to being an honorary Aussie.
I tried to add my photo on here, but my computer kept crashing every time I tried to upload the photo.
Yes, Christopher, I saw your entry. However, when I went to your blog to see if I could help, I found that the post was about Scotland, not about Australia.
A mystery then Julie, as I did put an Australian themed photo on - the up and down under bar.
Alas, too late now. Here's to the next one
Some interesting photo choices- afraid I felt I couldn't take part as I feel bad/embarassed/guilty about British ancestors quashing of the native people in Oz...
